About This Project
Heatherbrae worhed as a General Contractor for the new construction of General Gordon Elementary, located in the heart of Kitsilano neighborhood of Vancouver. The existing 100 year old school had a high seismic risk and was demolished in January of 2015. The new school now consists of three floors: The ground floor consists of the multipurpose room, gym, library, the Kindergarten and preschool communities; The second and third floor accommodates four Learning Communities. These are clusters of four classrooms arranged around a central learning area and small group rooms. The NE Corner now has a heritage component using the original brick from the 100 yr. old school.
