The Paris Block
Ankenman Marchand Architects
For over 60 years The Paris Block was home to Pierre Paris & Sons – a logging boot manufacturer and shoe retailer. Originally built in 1907, The Paris Block is unique in that massive iron i-beams were employed to span the entire width of the building. These beams will be a distinctive hallmark of the new homes within, as will the more familiar red brick construction which was typical of the era.
Recognized as a Heritage Building and situated on West Hastings, just a few strides from the Woodward’s building redevelopment, the Paris Block will be 29 new homes within a 100-year-old 5-storey brick building. It’s in a position to take advantage of the revitalization of the much anticipated Woodward’s district.
