The Central Middle School Seismic Upgrade project consisted of two phases. The initial phase involved renovating an existing dormant elementary school (Richmond Elementary) to house the relocated staff and students from Central Middle School from September 2010 to June 2011. The second phase of the project consisted of seismically upgrading the 1950’s vintage concrete structure with added rock anchors, concrete foundation, and wall elements. working closely with the municipality in the future.

Relocation of staff and students, phased tendering and continued communication with the design team, School Board, Victoria Fire Department, and Municipality of Victoria, allowed for schedule maintenance and occupancy as required. The flexibility achieved via phased design and tendering allowed the client and design consultants to maximize design input and consideration while keeping the project on schedule and on budget.
